Cuttack, the cultural capital of Odisha is situated at the apex of the delta formed by the river Mahanadi and Kathajodi. History
The city of Cuttack started as a military cantonment because of its impregnable situation that further developed into the capital of the state of Odisha.
The Cuttack Municipality came into existence in 1876. It is situated between the rivers Mahanadi and Kathajodi.
Though Bhubaneswar has been made the new capital of Odisha, still Cuttack acts as a bridge linking the past, present and future of state’s history and heritage. It is ranked as one of the old cities of India with her life spread over for more than thousand years; being famous as the ‘Millennium City’.

Cuttack lies in the national high way No.16, connecting the metropolitan cities of Kolkata and Chennai. Well connected by rail, Cuttack is an important hub for most trains. The nearest airport is Biju Patnaik Airport, 28 Kms away. It also has the largest bus terminus of the state.
