Excise personnel seized around 127 grams of brown sugar worth Rs 12.7 lakh from a 40-year-old woman near City Hospital here on Monday. The accused was identified as Sukanti Behera of Gate Bazar.

Around Rs 11,000 cash was also seized from her, said Ashok Kumar Satapathy, deputy commissioner (excise). The accused might be waiting for the buyer to handover the brown sugar when she got caught, he added.Earlier, the excise personnel seized over 400 grams of brown sugar from different areas of Berhampur.
