Govt. High School, Kotpad was established during pre-independence period in the year 1944 in the district of Koraput. It extends teaching facilities in Humanities, Social Science etc. It is a Govt. educational institution imparting education to Co-education Level. The main objectives of this institution is to disseminate knowledge to the Boys and Girls students in different fields though girls are not studying in this institution as there are two girls high schools in this town. Simultaneously, this institution also aims at the overall development of the Boys students physically, morally, and mentally. Games and Sports are also an integral part of this institution which inspires the students to be physically fit. Most of the students of this institution are tribal boys. They belong to SC & ST category.
