The Nabarangpur Municipality in Odisha was established in 1920 as a Union Board under the Madras Local Bodies Act. It was later converted into a Notified Area Council on July 1, 1953 and then into a Municipality on July 20, 1970. The municipality is made up of three revenue villages (Nabarangpur, Sadasivpur, and Chamuriaguda) and three hamlets, and covers an area of 21,004 square kilometers. As of 2001, the municipality had a population of 28,005, with 53% of the population being male and 47% female. The municipality has 17 wards, and Shankar Kerketta is the Executive Officer.
The municipality's aims and objectives include looking after the health, sanitation, water supply, road safety, and public convenience of its citizens. It has set up 29 tube wells, 2,234 street lights, one government hospital, and 39 schools. The municipality also offers social security schemes, such as the Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme (IGNOAPS), which provides a monthly pension of Rs. 300 to beneficiaries.
